POSTER
As Jeff mentioned in previous emails, I have been working on a
motorcycle ride to benefit cancer research and treatment. I
will tell you everyone who reads this email has some type of
connection with cancer…either you have it, had it, or know
someone in your family or circle of friends has been affected by
this terrible disease.
Your fellow classmates are currently working on a motorcycle
benefit which Jeff has mentioned in emails previously. The Ride
is called "Ride For Wellness" and
is to also serve as a memorial for those who attended Southside
High School and passed away due to cancer. All money collected
will be donated to the Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central
Alabama.
The Ride for Wellness will take place March 27, 2010, 1PM, in
Selma; Ride-Day registration is from 9AM to 1PM—note that a
registration form will placed on the
www.SouthsideReunion.com web site soon for your use (and for
early registration, which is highly encouraged). The 80-mile
ride will depart from the Moose Lodge in Selma at 1PM and will
include a police escort. The cost for motorcycle riders is
$25.00 and $10.00 for passengers. We’ll have a dance on that
same night starting at 8PM; riders and passengers will be
admitted free. In addition, there will be a $5 door fee for
those who attend the dance but did not ride/participate in this
event. A rain date is planned for April 3, 2010.
A pre-registration is already in progress and the design of an
awesome t-shirt is in full swing. Participants will receive a
t-shirt and others who want to purchase the shirts may do so for
$15.00 each. The design will not be completed until sometime in
January, 2010 due to the specific detail being placed on the
shirts. A sample of the t-shirt should be posted on the reunion
www.SouthsideReunion.com web site and available for viewing
by the 1st of February. The Dallas County Moose
Lodge is joining in to put on The Ride for Wellness, and will
sell hot dogs and sodas on Ride Day.
We are seeking sponsors, donations and volunteers to work at the
event and to assist with registration. If a sponsor donates
$100 or more, their name or business name will be printed on the
back of the t-shirt along with our custom Ride design artwork.
We offer two ways to make donations via:
-
Credit Card: Go to
www.MontgomeryCancer.com
(Click on the The Network for Good), or
-
Mail a check or money order payable to: The Cancer
Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama C/O Tracye Howe 1904 West
Highland Avenue Selma, Alabama 36701.
We will accept any donation you care to send…and please know
that ALL donations will be deeply appreciated. Reminder:
Your donation is tax deductible! And note that we have a
Tax ID Number from The Cancer Wellness Foundation for your
deduction.
I would like to thank the following organizations and people for
their help and assistance. The Dallas County Moose Lodge, Pepsi
Cola of Selma, Wanda Ward, Wanda Woodson, Tracye Howe, Shelly
Larson, Theresa Rives, Terry Lambert, Cheyenne Bradford, Steve
Foley, Jim Hadaway, Boyd Pugh, Doc Averette, and Jeff Maddox.
Please contact me if you would like to help with the
registration for this event; we still need six more people who
are not planning to ride that can help. You can reach me at
deestes123@aol.com, (770) 757-7207 cell, (770) 577-8087.
We’re looking forward to raising funds for this great organization and supporting its cause. Thank you for your support and assistance...
