Southside High School,
Selma, AlabamaReunions!:
This page is your access point to information for past and future reunions. Enjoy!
In 2002, the Southside High School Class of 1975 decided to have a reunion...and although 2003 would be their 28th year since graduation, and reunions are usually held on the graduation anniversary every 5 or 10 years, since the Class of 1975 did not have 20- or 25-year reunion, they decided to have one the very next year, 2003. And the 2003 reunion was such a hit, they decided to go ahead and have one two years later, their 30-Year Reunion. Since Southside graduating classes tend to be fairly small, and since none of us are getting any younger, it was decided to open up the reunions to anyone that attended Southside. Having quite a few people from Craig Air Force Base attend Southside, but not have an opportunity to graduate from Southside since they were members of a military family, it was also decided that although you had to have attended Southside to attend these reunions, you didn't have to have necessarily graduated from there. The 2005 Reunion was such a huge success -- with 100 in attendance. Next, it was decided to scale it down and have an "all classes" event each year in the form of a dance and social -- these were named "An Evening With Friend" and there was one in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, so far. A cook out was added to some these during day, with the dance and social held in the evening. That allowed more time to socialize and made it worthwhile for our out-of-towners, so they had more than just a couple of hours of scheduled activities. The next event is scheduled for late June, 2012. Also, note that a motorcycle ride was conducted in 2010 to raise money for cancer awareness, and to give back to the community in that regard.
Visit the
reunion pages below as often as you like. And don't forget to spread the
word to other former Southside people...
